a banner for Boston

I just don't understand the violence that happened yesterday.  The two families that lost their loved ones, the countless others who were injured.... their lives are forever changed because of the actions of someone else. It sickens me that my son has to grow up in a world like that.  When he came home from school yesterday, I was sitting in front of my TV watching in shock as the events unfolded in Boston, Mass.

He quietly sat next to me and held my hand only asking if there was something that we could do to help.  In that moment I realized raising my son so that he never loses that gentle and loving nature was the best thing I can do to help. It might not help immediately but when he is a grown man, he will know what is right and good. He will feel compassion towards others. He will help who he can when he can and the world will be a better place for it.

I won't begin to pretend that I understand the politics, religious beliefs, or the issues that can drive someone to hurt innocent people like that.  I refuse to believe that disagreement of such things can be THE reason that blood is spilled on the streets around the world.  Deep-seated evil has to live within each and every person that has ever taken such actions.

My heard breaks for all of those affected by the events of 4/15.  God bless
